If you need to remove your sump pump, you can use this handy guide and video to show you how to remove a sump pump.
- If you live on a high water table or your sump pump runs a lot, have a backup pump to pump out the water in the pit while you change the pump.
- Unplug the power to the pump or turn the circuit breaker to the sump pump off.
- Lay down towels around the sump pit.
- If you have a quiet check valve for the sump pump, remove that, but disconnect it slowly because all the water from the discharge line will spray out.
- Remove the sump pit cover if you have one.
- Pull the pump out of the pit using the handle on the sump pump.
